Memberships: Our membership year is from April 1 to March 31, so if you have not sent in your membership dues ($35) please do so. We are trying to continue to make the society fun and interactive with both the community and the artists.

Executive: It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Christina our secretary - Christina's art world has taken her in a direction away from the human figure. Christina your joyful nature at the meetings will be greatly missed. For members, if you are interested in getting involved with the Executive, please send a note to Tina Siddiqui our President taeessuxmal@yahoo.com. You can see duties on the web. Executive meetings are once a month, usually on a Saturday and last about one to two hours. We are an effective and efficient board, so you won't be wasting any time at all.

Exhibitions: A day or so ago, you should have received the notice regarding the Stick Figures exhibition. This will be our biggest endeavour for the society, as we try to reach out and engage the community. So many times during our exhibitions, people say that they can only draw stick figures... but once you realize it is all just marks on paper, then the next step is easy. How many of you found drawing engaging and interesting stick figures challenging?

The goal for this exhibition is to eventually take this to public art galleries and publish in a book, so if you haven't done work, but would like to, please read the webpage. Most of this information you already know, so please go ahead and scroll through the pages. If you have any questions after reading, by all means send a note back.

Workshops: We have a new workshop underway - it is with Suzanne Northcott, and members get an early bird price and opportunity. Have you wondered how to transition from a drawing to a painting, or what can you do with your drawings? Scroll down to the image for more information.

Drawing Sessions: Canada Day will be very active down in the Cultural District. There is a big event happening in the RCA called Wrapped and Ready to Go! coming out of Studio 113. The Call to Artists is still open for that. (scroll down for the info).

As part of this event, there are two special public drawing sessions set up for Canada Day, July 1. We will have draped (hopefully costumed!) models, and it will take place outside the RCA near where the totems are. Times are 9 to 11 and 2 to 4, these sessions are no cost. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I will save a space for you. You may bring your own easel, and or chair, or take a donkey from the Painting and Drawing room. Again, please let me know if you are planning on attending. We encourage you to bring a small work and easel for display.

I am in the process of setting up the Drawing in the Vineyard sessions. Please keep an eye on the calendar for advance notice of these - though I will send around an email to let you know when it is happening, but it will show up in the calendar as well.

The event formerly known as Evergreen is now called Gala for the Arts, and we have been asked to do a drawing session for their event. They love us. :-D That event is a Saturday night, November 27, times to be confirmed, but likely 7-9, or something like that. First come first served on this event. The theme this year is 007 Casino Royale, so it will be quite interesting. More info here if you would like to attend as a guest rather than an artist: http://www.rotarycentreforthearts.com/support_us/artsgala.html
