Hi to all, just a small reminder that you can keep up to date with sessions, meeting and exhibitions with the Livessence website.  http://www.livessence.com.

This Saturday, May 3, there will be no drawing.  Next drawing session is May 10.

All members are also welcome to send three photos of their work to be included on the website.  For those of you who already have websites, this is a perfect opportunity for an inbound relative link, which helps your site out a great deal.

The AGM is coming up on May 17, if you are attending, please RSVP ASAP but by May 10 for sure, so that we can have a nice lunch available for you as a returning member.

If you would like to stay involved and support the group, consider joining as a member to keep your toe in the water. We would love to see you back at the sessions and in the exhibitions.

All the best, Julia

Painting the Portrait From Life with Ingrid Christensen

By | Workshops | No Comments

The following workshop is open to all.  If you are interested, we recommend you sign up right away as there are only 10 spots in total.  If you know of someone who might be interested, please forward them this email.

Painting the Portrait From Life with Ingrid Christensen

One Day Workshop plus Half-Day Demo

Instructor: Ingrid Christensen

Date: June 28, 1 – 4 pm  DEMO

June 29, 9:30 – 4:30  WORKSHOP

Location: Rotary Centre for the Arts, Painting Room

Cost: Members – $140 (includes modeling fee), Non-members – $165

This workshop is now open to all.  For information about becoming a member, please see our membership page.

Learn how to paint a complete, alla-prima portrait in this exciting two-part demo and workshop.

On Saturday, June 28,  you’ll watch Ingrid demonstrate the painting of an entire portrait, from start to finish.  As she works, Ingrid will thoroughly explain both her process and her materials and answer any questions that you have.

Then, on Sunday, June 29, you’ll paint a portrait of your own in the time-honoured, traditional manner: from  life.  Working from a model ensures both better understanding and better painting: you learn to discern subtle colours, values and colour temperatures without the distortion and simplification of a photo reference.  You’ll see 3-dimensional form easily and learn how to translate it believably to the canvas.

For oil and acrylics.  Demo will be in oil.
